What to expect when you come for art therapy
Life has many twists and turns and sometimes we don’t have the tools to make sense of it all. Art therapy is a creative, non-threatening way to explore where you are and look at where you want to be. The job of the art therapist is to encourage the client to look at their present situation in a creative way. This may open possibilities and ignite a spark that has otherwise not been explored.
Through a combination of structured and spontaneous exercises the client will explore issues important to him or her, and move towards positive change and understanding.

Laura's background
After completing her B.A at the University of Windsor, Laura proceeded to the Toronto Art Therapy Institute earning her graduate diploma in art therapy.
Laura's background in the arts and her diverse experiences working with people have led her to understand that creativity and art-making can be both a path to deeper understanding and a healing process in and of itself. Being an art therapist challenges her to find ways in which people are able to find their creative voice. The reasons a person seeks therapy may not even be very clear. Art therapy offers many ways in which to become engaged in the process of therapy, either through painting, drawing, clay, poetry, collage, or talking. Laura believes that it is through the process of becoming engaged in therapy that the most rewarding outcomes are possible.
Aside from her professional work, some of Laura’s personal interests are craft circles with friends, organic gardening, culinary adventures, artistic pursuits, family, and traveling.
Laura is accredited with CATA (The Canadian Art Therapy Association) and OACCPP (Ontario Association of Consultants, Counsellors, Psychometrists and Psychotherapists).
