Miki Beldman

For most of us life is not always clear sailing. Sometimes it helps to talk to a caring professional who can help us to understand where we have come from and chart a new course for the future.

Miki believes each person is unique, with their own personal, family and community stories, influenced by ethnic and societal contexts. She is a good listener. Miki encourages people she works with as they explore their emotions, understanding, behaviour and spirituality. Her approach enables people to make their own choices and celebrate their strengths and personhood.

When Miki is not at work, she cares for two great moms in their eighties, sings in a choir, circle dances, gardens, volunteers at McMaster Student Open Circles and reads in her hammock.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed academic studies in registered psychiatric nursing, and residential counselling
  • Masters program in education and counselling, and a Masters in Religious Education with a counselling focus from McMaster University
  • Advanced EMDR Training
  • Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
  • Completed advanced training in the specialist stream of Pastoral Counselling Education (PCE)
  • Clinical member of the Ontario Society of Psychotherapists (OSP)
  • Registered member of College of Social Work (RSW)
  • Private practice with Patmos Counselling Associates since 1992
  • Clinical Manager of Employee Assistance Program, Women Abuse & Community Counselling from 1992-2005
  • Studied individual, marriage, family, and pastoral counselling for 10 years
  • Teaching associate in counselling theory and techniques for over 10 years
  • Over 25 years experience in counselling in various settings, including more than 1000 hours of group facilitation and wellness training
  • Married since 1975, mother of two young adults, active volunteer in local church and community
